It’s true what they say…there ain’t no party like a Mexia Christmas party! With epic tales of Christmas parties past it was clear that this year’s celebration needed to be one that our team would talk about for years to come. The idea of a winery tour was planted in the head of our amazing Events Coordinator, Danielle, and she was in her element – party planning mode engaged!

At this time of year there’s nowhere better to sip on a glass of vino other than the idyllic Yarra Valley. So that’s just what we did! Our team and partners all made their way to Melbourne’s CBD for 9am on 5 December to begin our day of celebrations. We all loaded onto the coach and were handed a Mexia Xmas Party Survival Kit loaded with goodies to ensure we would survive the day ahead (and any lingering effects the day after).

Our first visit was to the lovely Rochford Winery where we had a delicious tasting of what the Yarra has to offer – sav blanc, rose and pinots, oh my!

We were then whisked away in our coach to the stunning De Bortoli Cellar Door for another tasting. Their prosecco and pinot were total showstoppers – wow! All of this wine tasting was making us hungry so we headed upstairs to the restaurant where the tables were set beautifully with Christmas crackers, Santa hats, reindeer antlers and paper crowns. We were dressed the part and ready to feast on the most delectable Christmas lunch you’ve ever seen!

We boarded the coach and the Practice Leads delivered Team Thank You speeches to each individual Mexian for their unique and amazing contributions throughout the year. It was a great time of reflection to acknowledge our champion team.

Wine tasting and lunch eating is very thirsty work, you know…so after the Thank You speeches were complete, we made a pit stop at the Coldstream Brewery to whet our whistle with some frosty beers/cider. After a few cold ones (in some very hot Melbourne heat) we all loaded into the coach for our return to Melbourne. We finished the day at the very funky The Mill House with delicious nibbles and cocktails.

Overall it was a fantastic day of fun, laughter, wine and great food with colleagues who have easily become friends. There are loads more photos of the day, which can be found on our Facebook page.

We can’t thank Danielle, Mexia Events Coordinator extraordinaire, enough for organizing 12 hours of pure awesome. It was the most epic Christmas party with no stone unturned – every detail of the day was carefully considered and perfectly executed!
